Transplant unit closes at Covenant Health System

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Covenant Health System is closing its transplant unit.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Scott Robins says the decision was made last summer and announced to patients Friday. Transplant services are still available in Lubbock through University Medical Center.

Covenant did 40 transplants last year and more than 500 over the last 20 years.
