SLATON, TX (KCBD) - Let's change gears and talk about the volunteer based Texas Air Museum. A group of 15 to 30 volunteers run the museum every Thursday and Saturday. They call themselves a flying museum because they like to take folks up for a ride in vintage war planes. But it's not just a shrine to aerial warfare. The museum also honors the sacrifice of American troops on the ground.
Mike Delano with the Texas Air Museum says, "It gives us a chance to look back in history - to see what our fathers and forefathers have done for us; the sacrifices they've made, some of the hardships."
The Texas Air Museum is funded by the South Plains Air Show. The show includes precision aerobatic maneuvers and re-enactments from World War II.
