School districts opens new schools to accommodate growth

WOLFFORTH, TX (KCBD) - At a time when so many small school districts on the South Plains are slowly losing student population, Frenship ISD in Wolfforth is growing fast. Newly opened schools include Willow Bend Elementary and Terra Vista Middle School. Opening this next school year will be Oakridge Elementary.

"We're gonna open school probably at over 7,300 students. We're averaging 5 to 5.5% growths each year," said Assistant Superintendent Steve Burleson.

Frenship has roughly 150 million dollars of outstanding debt to pay for this growth and this year the Fitch Bond Rating Agency upgraded Frenship's debt from an A to an A plus.
