SHALLOWATER, TX (KCBBD) - Perhaps the fastest growing health clinic on the South Plains is the Shallowater clinic. It has just one physician, Dr. Chad Gray, but in the last 3 years, the number of patients going through these doors has exploded to between 700 and 1,100 every month!
"We've been blessed to build our practice up and get very busy and luckily do to that we've had the opportunity to build a new clinic with more rooms and a larger facility over all that will help us have better patient flow and serve more patients we hope," said Dr. Gray.
The new clinic is still under construction, but it will be 4 times the size of the old one and will include a huge lab, x-ray and procedure room. But even though the building is growing, the people in Shallowater still look at their clinic as a big city operation with a small town feel.
Vanessa Bolyard, a family nurse practitioner there, says one patient took the idea of a family clinic to include the family dog. "She came in for an appointment and she brought her dog. It was pregnant and she wanted to see if we could x-ray it and see how many puppies were in there," she said "Did you do that?" we asked. "No," she laughed.
The new clinic will be ready in January - for people patients - no dogs allowed.
