Lubbock Kmart Spared from 326 Nationwide Store Closings
Lubbock's Kmart has been spared from a mass closing of hundreds of stores across the country. The bankrupt company announced Tuesday it would close 326 stores and cut up to 35,000 jobs under its latest plan.
More than 50 stores in Texas would close, including two in Amarillo, one in Abilene and one in Odessa. Kmart in Plainview closed last year when the retail giant first announced it was bankrupt.
If a court approves the most recent closings, it would leave Lubbock's Kmart as one of the few remaining open in West Texas.
