Queens get it done in the classroom

PLAINVIEW TX - The Wayland Baptist Flying Queen's basketball team has been named a 2008-09 NAIA Scholar Team according to information released last week by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Head coach Tory Bryant's squad had an overall grade point average of 3.30 during the 2008-09 school year.

For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar Team award, they must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution.

The team grade point average must include all varsity athletes certified as eligible.  A record total of 837 teams, a 12% increase over last year, received the award.
