LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Food and Drug Administration has linked drugs often used to treat juvenile arthritis, Crohn's disease, and other inflammatory disorders to cancer in kids.
The medications include Remicade, Enbrel, Humira, Cimzia, and Simponi. These drugs called TNF blockers will now come with a boxed warning highlighting the increased risk of cancer in children and adolescents.
An FDA investigation found TNF blockers increased the risk of cancer within an average of two and a half years (30 months) after beginning treatment.
