Tours of the new jail open to the public this weekend

Posted:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - If you have been interested in what the new Lubbock County Jail looks like on the inside, but think that committing a crime isn't worth it, then you're in luck.

Tours will be given Saturday, August 8th and will begin just after 10:00 a.m. You are to meet at the jail and hard hats will be provided. You need to wear walking shoes as there is much area to cover. Also, there is no food service on-site, so you can bring a water bottle.

The tour will take about two hours. Two groups will be formed, with only 35 people per group. If you are interested in the tour, click here for the reservation form. The tours are basically full, however, there will likely be no-shows and there is not an exact limit on numbers per group, and they are limited by practical size and the number of hardhats.

The jail is located at 3502 N. Holly Ave. To get there, take the Regis exit off I-27 and go 2.2 miles east on Regis. Turn right onto N. Holly Ave. and you will see the new facility on your left across from the Lubbock County Community Corrections Facility. Click Here for a Google map.

A Listener Club luncheon will follow, beginning about 1:00 p.m. and serving until 2:00 p.m., at the Red Carpet Restaurant with Chef Carlos preparing one of his fabulous Lasagna dishes, salad and drink for only $10. Service will be on a first come, first serve basis.

You are encouraged to go ahead and come to the tour, and they will attempt to accommodate you. Those with reservations will be assigned to the earliest groups.
