Larry Combest will resign from Congressional District on May 19th. The list of candidates hoping to fill the vacancy is growing.
State Representative Carl Isett kicked off his campaign on Friday. He formally announced his intention to run at the Lubbock County Commissioners Court. Isett says he will work in the best interest of those living in this district. Isett says, "If the next congressman from the 19th Congressional District is ahead of the curve, it is good for the people of West Texas." After stopping in Lubbock, Isett took his campaign to Big Spring, Midland and Odessa.
A local Ophthalmologist also wants to serve District 19. Donald May announced his candidacy for the congressional position. He says he understands the complex problems of this area. "I can take very complex matters and I can make them simple which is one of the things that's necessary in dealing with complex problems in congress." May's priorities include a strong national defense, education, lower taxes and affordable health care.
