Fun Day for Area School Children

The Texas State Comptroller describes herself as "one tough grandma". But Friday afternoon Carole-Keeton-Strayhorn was "one pleased grandma." Keeton-Strayhorn honored J.T. Hutchinson junior high students for their participation in the "Watt Watchers" program. The program encourages students to conserve energy by turning off lights in empty rooms.

Maedegen Elementary students saw their favorite stories come to life Friday. The students celebrated young authors day. They listened to stories from some of their favorite writers. Students also dressed up as characters from the books they've been reading.

Education soared for Preston Smith elementary students Friday. The students learned first hand what it takes to be a helicopter pilot. A local pilot gave the students a tour of his chopper and taught them flight safety.
