Researchers find breastfeeding may reduce breast cancer

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - There is a powerful new reason to breastfeed. Many studies have shown that it's good for the baby, but new research at the University of North Carolina indicates that women with a family history of breast cancer can drop their risk by nearly 60% if they breastfeed their children.

The study of about 60,000 women found 60% decreased risk from breastfeeding is similar to taking the cancer drug Tamoxifen for five years.  By the way, the study says it didn't matter how long the women breastfed their babies, three months or three years yielded the same results.
