Perry Sworn in as Texas Governor

The weather cooperated Tuesday in Austin as Governor Rick Perry and Lt. Governor David Dewhurst were sworn in. Perry thanked a number of special guests at the ceremony outside the capitol, especially his parents, Ray and Amelia Perry.

Also attending were the governors of three Mexican states, Tamaulipas Governor Tomas Yarrington, Coahulia Governor Enrique Martinez and Chihuahua Governor Patricio Martinez. Perry praised the woman he calls the love of his life, his wife, Anita. Their two children also were on hand as the republican was sworn in for a full four-year term.

The 52-year-old governor introduced one of his childhood teachers, Olga Taylor of the Paint Creek Rural School.

A military flyover was also part of the ceremony.
