Victim of Thursday car accident identified

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - We're learning more about the man who lost his life from a crash along Slaton Highway Thursday. Police identified the victim as 27-year-old Julio Ruvalcaba of Lubbock.

The police report says Ruvalcaba was ejected during the crash. The official police report says he tried to cross the Slaton Highway when his small passenger car was struck by a pickup truck.

One other person was taken by ambulance but has since been released from the hospital.

The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Slaton Highway and Olive Avenue, just outside the South Loop.
