LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - There is a sign of recovery in Lubbock's housing market. In July Lubbock issued 99 permits for new single family homes. That's up from 86 in July of last year. Total construction is way up but the number is misleading. It went from 241 to 584 permits. Much of that work is additions and remodeling. The taxable value of new construction in Lubbock is still down comparing July of 2009 with July of 2008. It went from $31,708,220 to $29,503,213, according to statistics provided by the city.
