Manager lied to Lubbock FBI about organic foods, records say

By James Clark | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Brownfield businessman lied to Lubbock FBI investigators about the organic products he bought and sold. According to court records, Basilio "Bossy" Coronado was the managing partner of a Brownfield business called Sel-Cor. The company made money by purchasing, cleaning, packaging and selling organic food.

Coronado faces three felony charges. He's accused of lying to state & federal agents who certify that organic foods are genuinely organic; meaning they are free of pesticides, fertilizers or artificial preservatives.  When FBI agents asked about the products being sold, Coronado is accused of lying to them. Court records do not say how much, if any, non-organic food was sold to consumers as organic.
