BERLIN, Germany - Former South Plains College standout Renny Quow advanced to the semi-final round of the world championships in the 400 meter dash when he won the second of seven sections in 45.21 seconds.
Quow, who finished seventh in the 400 meter event at the 2008 Beijing Olympic games, will run in the second of three semi-final heats scheduled to begin at 11:15 am (CST) tomorrow. Anyone interested in watching the race may do so by going to universalsports.com and clicking the 'Live from Berlin' banner.
To automatically qualify for Friday's final, Quow must finish either first or second in his section. If he does not, he may also advance if he has the first or second fastest time of the non-automatic qualifiers. Eight competitors will advance to the final scheduled for Friday at 2:20 p.m., Central Standard Time.
