LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Soon there will be a new Lubbock County Sheriff because effective September 12th, David Gutierrez is stepping down to take a job with the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles.
Lubbock County Commissioners have a plan in place to appoint an interim Sheriff to serve for less than two years. After those two years, voters will be able to elect a sheriff for a two year term in the November 2010 election. In 2012, the office of County Sheriff will return back to its normal four year term.
This is only a tentative rough draft from the Lubbock County Commissioners.
