LUBBOCK TX (KCBD) - Health inspectors cited The Koko Club at 5401 Ave. Q with six critical violations.
* Milk and tomato juice were thrown out because they were above the safe cold temperature of 41 degrees.
* Energy drinks were chilling in the ice used for other drinks.
* There was no soap at a hand sink.
* There was no thermometer in a cooler.
* Toxic items were not labeled.
* Mold and mildew growth was inside the soda gun holder.
The report shows all violations were corrected during the inspection.
Now to this week's hefty helping of top performers. We start at the Hub City Burger House at 5107 29th Drive.
"It was awesome it was a really good feeling of course it take a lot of work," co-owner Laura Rodriguez said. This central Lubbock staple has been serving up perfection for years! "We have two of the best burgers here in Lubbock. Of course this place has been here for over 30 years, and we want to keep the best reputation. We have a Mother Burger, and we have a Hub City Burger. The reason we call it the Hub City Burger is because it belongs here in Lubbock, TX. Its double meat, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, you name it, everything but the kitchen sink. It's really awesome. Our mother burger is like a whole pound of meat so if you can take it come get it."
From the house to the home of the Original Chicken Sandwich. We head inside the South Plains Mall where Chick-fil-A once again grills up a perfect score.
Speaking of chicken... That's all our next top performer serves. Raising Cane's at 907 University does one thing and one thing only and that's chicken strips.
Next we head to Moose Magoo's at 8217 University. It's a first time at the top for this Lubbock hot spot.
Our next top performer is very familiar with the food for thought list. Glazed Honey Ham Co. At 3424 82nd is a multiple repeat top performer.
And for the love of food.... Dion's delivers a perfect score. This repeat top performer specializes in gourmet pizzas and subs.
And finally - Galvan's Restaurant at 3501 50th is excited to be at the top of the list and owner Ralph Galvan says it was a team effort. "Everybody did their job, and I couldn't have done it without my employees' help."
Open just more than a month, Ralph says his team has cooked up a menu that's already created a following. "We serve a variety of food. We serve everything from enchiladas, chili rellenos, carne guisada, sour cream enchiladas, and everything American - burgers, chicken fried steak, chicken strips, ham and cheese clubs. We have everything." And a perfect score to top it off.
