One hospitalized after SUV hits pole

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - What looked like an accident is now an assault case.  Ronny Lee Pickens, 52, the driver of a red SUV was hospitalized with serious injuries after an accident in central Lubbock.

Pickens tells police a woman in a silver Mustang intentionally ran him off the road. Police say Pickens ran into a utility pole around 12:30 a.m. Friday at 58th and Avenue U, near Bayless Elementary.

The vehicle went up the pole and came to a stop on its rear bumper. There were no reports of power outages. The cause of the accident and the name of the injured driver have not yet been released.
