LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - NewsChannel 11 has confirmed reports that Deputy City Manager Tom Adams has given his resignation. No specific reason was given for Adams' departure which is effective January 29th.
However, it's no secret that there was some tension between Adams and the Lubbock City Council after NewsChannel 11 broke a story about water rates. We were first to report in the Spring of 2009 that the city needed to raise water rates by more than 40 percent.
The rate hike was a surprise to the city council members who found out only a few days before NewsChannel 11 viewers. Adams overseas the water department.
