After 4 years in court, City wins Oscar Renda lawsuit

By James Clark | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - City hall wins a big court battle.   Oscar Renda Construction sued the city back in 2005 saying it was the lowest bidder for a $25 million section of the South Lubbock Drainage Project.

The construction company claims that the city passed it over as retaliation for winning a lawsuit against another city.   But an appeals court ruling says Lubbock had other legitimate concerns such as Oscar Renda Construction's safety record.

The company sued and lost.   It came back to Lubbock federal court on appeal.   But this second time, the appeals court rules in favor of the city.
