LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Construction projects funded by stimulus funds are coming in under budget, so TxDOT has put together a back-up plan of additional projects. They'll be considered in priority order if funding becomes available.
Two of the projects are in our area. One of the proposals is to build a six-lane extension of Slide Road from U.S. Highway 84 to Marshall Street in northwest Lubbock with a cost of just under $10 million.
The other project would widen parts of U.S. Highway 82 to a super two-lane highway through King County. Texas' share of stimulus funds for road and bridge projects is $2.25 billion.
