Overlay and micro-surfacing might become temporary roadblocks for - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Motorists should beware of two road projects both starting Monday. City contractors begin an asphalt overlay project in which the top layer of existing asphalt will be removed and a new layer put down.   This work will be on the following streets

• 21st Street from Indiana Ave. to Louisville Ave
• Nashville Ave from 19th Street to 24th Street
• Memphis Ave from 19th Street to 24th Street
• Louisville Ave from 19th Street to 24th Street

The overlay work could take two weeks or more.
    
Also starting Monday city contractors will begin micro-surfacing residential streets east of Slide and west of Quaker, south of 50th and north of the South Loop. Crews will be laying down a thin layer of protective material on the streets to make them last longer. During this work streets could be blocked for the micro-surface to dry and harden. This work could take a week or more.
