Latin King members sentenced to prison for drug charges

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - After pleading guilty to drug charges, a Lubbock man takes it back. Court records say Luis Nava is part of the Latin Kings street gang.

On Friday, Nava withdrew his plea in Lubbock federal court and requested a jury trial. Investigators say Nava is connected to the same gang accused of a drive by murder in Big Spring last year. In April, the FBI searched White River and recovered parts of an AK47 assault rifle used in the drive by shooting.

Three other people, suspected to be part of the Latin Kings were sentenced Friday. Guerrero Olivas will serve 17 and a half years in prison for drug charges. Hiluterio Chavez will spend almost eight years behind bars for three different counts of illegal weapons possession. And, the judge sentenced Eliseo Perez to nearly 16 years in federal custody on drug charges.
