LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock is just a few days away from the start of a new football season. The Texas Tech Athletic Department is gearing up for thousands of fans to pour into the stadium, and one of their biggest projects is parking. The parking lot to the East of the Stadium used to hold about 500 first come, first served parking spots. Because of the construction, it now only has 93 spots, and all of them are already sold to donors. So, fans who usually park there will need to find another place to park.  "The two most emotional things that we deal with are tickets and parking," said Senior Associate Athletic Director, Steve Uryasz.

The Texas Tech Athletic Department has already sold all of their donor parking spaces. Those who hold a season parking pass, which range from $150 to $7,500, may see some delays. This year all season parking passes come with a bar code that the owners must have scanned before they can pull into their spot. "The fundamental reason is to completely do away with fraud. We don't want people copying or duplicating parking passes," said Uryasz. The athletic department hopes it will prevent people from losing their spots or having to tow vehicles.

For those who do not have a season parking pass, park and ride lots will provide free parking near the intersection of 10th and Texas Tech Parkway as well as in the lot West of the United Spirit Arena. A shuttle service will run to and from these lots to the stadium for $5 per person, roundtrip.

Another option is to park off campus. Multiple local ministries, like First Baptist Church, will sell parking spaces within walking distance of the stadium. First Baptist Church will sell spaces for $10 per car at three lots along Avenue X at 10th street, Glenna Goodacre, and Mac Davis Lane. The money made will help fund service projects and mission trips. "It makes a pretty good impact for the student ministry," said Jerry Ramirez.

Wherever you plan to park, be sure to get there early, and enjoy the game.
