Two hospitalized and three arrested in Thursday morning accident

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Two people are hospitalized and three others are in custody charged with intoxicated assault following a Thursday morning accident near Lubbock Christian University.

Police say a truck hit a van around 1:40 a.m. Thursday morning at the intersection of 19th Street and Chicago Avenue.

The passenger in the van, 47-year-old Teodoro Pena, was ejected and is in critical condition at University Medical Center.

The driver of the van 45-year-old Maryann Martinez was taken to Covenant with moderate injuries.

Police arrested the driver of the truck, 18-year-old Michael Anthony Keffales and his two passengers 21-year-old Cameron Minnich and 18-year-old David Mickelatti who all ran from the scene of the accident.
