New policies for Tech parking and tailgating

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - When it comes to Texas Tech football, two major components of the event are parking and tailgating, and there have been slight changes in both this year.

If you hold a parking pass for the Texas Tech 2009 football season, you may notice a slight change when entering parking areas around the stadium on game day. A new bar code system has been implemented to prevent illegal duplication of parking passes.

As a parking pass holder, you will only notice that your pass will be scanned when you enter the parking areas. You will be asked to remove your parking pass from the rearview mirror, present it at the lot entrance to be scanned, and then place it back on the rearview mirror.

This is the third straight year that all parking passes have been sold out.

The Red Raider Club is also enforcing Responisble Tailgaiting for the 09 season. Some of the tailgating rules are as follows:

  • Only one space is permitted per parking pass
  • Site setup may begin no earlier than 5:30 p.m. the day before the contest
  • Staking ground for tailgating sites is not permitted
  • Sound amplification equipment is prohibited
  • Tents and canopies must be secured and may not obstruct sidewalks, driving lanes or walkways
  • BBQ grills must be attended at all times
  • Use of motorized recreational vehicles are prohibited, unless pre-approved by Texas Tech Athletics
  • Commercial activity or solicitations are not allowed on campus; contact the RRC for vendor spaces
  • No "drop offs" of items or persons will be permitted in reserved parking lots

The June 12 summit, planned for Singapore, offers a historic chance for peace on the peninsula - but also the risk of an epic diplomatic failure that would allow the North to revive and advance its nuclear weapons program.
