You may have a tax break coming to you courtesy of the Texas government. On Wednesday Texas Comptroller Carolle Keeton Strayhorn unveiled a tax rebate plan that she calls "Returning the Favor".
Strayhorn's plan would give a portion of any surplus in the future back to taxpayers in the form of a tax free holiday, "This plan which will require a constitutional amendment will insure my generation does not fail in the legacy that we are handing over to the next generation," says Strayhorn.
Currently the state offers tax payers a tax free holiday in August. Last year Texans saved $33 million. Strayhorn says the "Returning the Favor" holiday could save twenty times that amount.
