Another person will officially file to succeed Larry Combest. On Thursday former Lubbock Mayor David Langston announced he will switch parties and run as a Republican. Langston says he made the switch because Republicans better represent his views as well as the people of West Texas.
The former mayor says he's the strong voice West Texans needs in Washington. Langston's candidacy brings the total number of official candidates to six.
The special election will take place May 3rd. Larry Combest will step down on May 31st.
