Emergency landing at LPSIA lands a man in trouble

By James Clark | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - An emergency landing in Lubbock results in criminal charges against a passenger.  Court records say on August 31, Air Tran flight 58 was en route from Los Angeles to Atlanta when the captain declared an in-flight emergency.

The F.B.I. arrested passenger Justin Buchholtz at the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport.   Court records say Buchholtz became violent when he requested an alcoholic drink and his mother objected because of prescription medications he took.   Court records say he tried to punch his mother in the nose, and threatened to punch airline attendants in the mouth.

An F.B.I. complaint says it took eight passengers to subdue Buchholtz.  He is charged with interfering with the duties of a flight attendant.
