Houston police object to law Isett supported

Posted:

Houston police are agitated because of the work of a Lubbock lawmaker. State Representative Carl Isett helped gather support for House Bill 2730.

The bill no longer allows the suspension of a concealed handgun license if the holder fails to display that license to a police officer. The Houston Police Union says it weakens the law. Isett tells News Channel 11 that Texans, by law can carry a concealed weapon in their car or truck. Only C-H-L holders had the extra requirement to show their license while driving with a gun in their car. Isett also says concealed handgun holders are dramatically less likely to perpetrate any violent crime.
