Lubbock apartment fire still under investigation

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Fire investigators say a Monday afternoon blaze at an abandoned central Lubbock apartment is suspicious and investigators are still looking for witnesses.

Smoke from the fire could be seen from miles away. Around 2:45 Monday afternoon, a police officer noticed a fire at the Eagle Point Town homes at 6122 Avenue R.

Fire officials believe the fire started with some mattresses in the alley, spread to a nearby fence and then to the apartment.

Most of the damage was to the outside of the complex, which is currently under renovation.

The fire is still under investigation, if you have any information about this fire, please call the Fire Marshall's office at 775-2646.
