Lubbock woman indicted in niece's death

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Nearly two years later, a grand jury says there is enough evidence to send a Lubbock woman to trial for the death of her niece.  Daphinie Craft, 22, now stands indicted on a charge of criminally negligent homicide for the October 2007 death of 13-month-old Kimyana Licon.

Authorities report that Craft placed her niece in a bathtub with two siblings then went to pick up their mother. Investigators say Craft had apparently asked her husband to watch the children, but he was asleep. When Craft and her sister returned, Kimyana was face down in the tub.  Her siblings were taken into CPS custody.

A Lubbock County Grand Jury indicted Craft on the charge Tuesday.  She remained in the Lubbock County Jail Tuesday night. Jailers booked her in this past may for drug possession.
