Lubbock parents comment on Obama's school speech

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Despite some schools not airing President Barack Obama's speech to school children, some parents say they're making it available themselves. "Everybody has their choice whether they want to watch it or not, but I know my kids are going to watch it," Jennifer Rankin said.

Rankin tells NewsChannel 11 she recorded the speech and plans to watch it with her children, because she feels it's important to see.  Meanwhile, some who watched the speech say it was appropriate and would recommend children see it.

"Absolutely, only I would have given this caveat: do not believe anything the guy says, because everything he said he does exactly the opposite in his administration. The speech itself was a great speech, very patriotic, very American type of speech, completely out of character for everything the man stands for and does," Steve Donaldson said.

Donaldson says every student should be able to watch the president, but he says without preconceived ideas on lesson plans.
