Texas Tech graduate killed in Afghanistan

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Dallas soldier with ties to Lubbock died in combat. Thirty-four year old 2nd Lieutenant Darryn D. Andrews received a Bachelors of Science from Texas Tech University.

Andrews died in the same location as Staff Sgt. Michael Murphrey. Andrews' unit was hit with an IED. However, it is not clear from written statements if the two died from the same attack. They died two days apart. Andrews leaves behind a pregnant wife and a 2-year-old son.
