Texas Tech Graduate Killed in Shuttle

As we have been reporting in recent weeks, two of the astronauts aboard the space shuttle have connections to Lubbock. Columbia Commander Rick Husband is a native of Amarillo. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1980.

Columbia was Husband's second space mission. His first was aboard Discovery in 1999. Husband is survived by his wife and two children.
