LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - At Mahon Elementary, health inspectors threw out lunch meat that did not have an expiration date.
At Frenship Westwind Elementary, cheese with the wrong expiration date was thrown out, and a dirty scoop was stored with clean utensils.
Both reports show the violations were corrected during the inspection.
Now we head to the top of the class. Five elementary schools aced their pop-quiz:
Atkins Middle School and Cavazos Middle School also received gold stars for their perfect scores.

Thai Pepper at 3702 20th serves up repeat perfection with a little bit of spice.
Next, you can have it your way when catching a flight out of the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport. The Burger King inside the airport flam broils a perfect score.
And finally, shooting pool just got a little tastier. Fast Eddie's at 2301 University called it - they racked up a flawless inspection.
Outback Steakhouse at 4015 S. Loop 289 is this week's only low performer. Inspectors found six critical violations.
All but one of the violations were corrected during the inspection.
Management says all violations have been corrected. He says, "We are always striving to improve and have great food safety."
