LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - On a personal note, I spent eight hours in the waiting room at UMC Thursday, along with my son Jacob and my husband Bill. Finally by about 4 p.m. we were called in to see the newest addition to the McCay family, although his last name is different. My daughter Morgan and her husband Daniel Olivier are now the proud parents of a little boy, Retief Daniel Olivier.
And for this story, I got to interview the mommy. I asked her, "How does it feel to be a mom?" Morgan glowed, "It's the best thing in the whole world. We feel so blessed."
It was 26-years ago that you may have watched the video of Bill and me (with Abner in the background) bringing Morgan home from the hospital. Abner was there with us again, first sitting patiently in the waiting room then celebrating with us after Retief arrived. We all took turns holding the little guy, but we all laughed because it was Bill who made him cry.
Retief Daniel Olivier weighed in at seven pounds, three ounces. Both mother and baby are doing fine. If you're wondering what that precious baby is going to call me, it's not Grandma. Daniel already calls me Kiki. That sounds good to me...Karen McCay.
