LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Lubbock Fire Marshall's Office officially says that the two-alarm fire at the Dollar General in Melonie Square Shopping Center early Saturday morning has not been ruled arson. They are now calling it "suspicious." Investigators are hoping to make progress on the case first thing Monday morning.
Two hours after the Dollar General fire, another two-alarm fire occurred in the Rush neighborhood which destroyed a home at 4611 18th Street. Investigators believe this fire was accidental, because early indications show it was an electrical problem with a dishwasher that was recently installed.
Amazingly, not one person was injured during both fires.
