Lubbock police officer recovering after car accident

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock police officer is recovering after her vehicle was struck near the strip.

Police responded to an accident on US Hwy. 87 near 101st Street around 11:30 Sunday night.

Officer Jennifer Breazeale parked her car on the highway near 114th to divert traffic away from the first accident, when she was rear-ended by another car.

The driver of that car fled the scene, but police stopped her near 84th Street. She was taken to University Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Officer Breazeale also suffered moderate injuries.

The name of the woman driving the car that struck the police officer's car has not yet been released.
