The 2003 Girls and Women in Sports Day

The 2003 Girls and Women in Sports Day, sponsored by the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, will be held on Saturday, February 8th at 8:45 - 11:30 a.m. in the Robert H. Ewalt Student Recreation Center. This is a play day for elementary-aged girls and their mothers. The Texas Tech Athletic Department and the Department of Recreational Sports, and Health Exercise Sports Sciences will host it.

The event highlights the value and benefits of female athletics and fitness. This year's event marks the 16th year in the history of Girls and Women in Sports Day. The previous year's event was a fun filled day of exercise as well as learning for the elementary school girls participating.

Tech female student-athletes along with the staff of the Recreation Center actively involved in the activities along with the girls and their moms. All of the youth girls involved will receive tickets to the Lady Raider Basketball game versus the Iowa State Cyclones on February 9th.

Registration is required and is taking place until February 6th by calling the Fitness/Wellness Center at (806) 742-3828.
