Buddy Holly Center Marks Solemn Anniversary

While the nation mourns the space shuttle tragedy, February 3rd is also a day to remember Lubbock's native son, Buddy Holly.

Forty-four years ago in 1959, Buddy Holly's plane went down in Iowa. The crash also killed Ritchie Valens and the "Big Bopper", J.P. Richardson.

To honor what some call "The Day the Music Died," the Buddy Holly Center has declared this "Buddy Week". Admission at the Buddy Holly Center will be two for the price of one until Friday. The center provides a detailed history of Buddy Holly, plus memorabilia collected from his short life.
