LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - One of the biggest fundraisers in Lubbock is just three weeks away. Now in its 15th year, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Lubbock alone has raised more than three million dollars in the fight against breast cancer and organizers are hoping this year will be bigger than ever.
"This year we decided to go for a big lofty goal and we'd like to raise $400,000 to help search for a cure for breast cancer. "And we have about 17 hundred people that have already signed up to participate in the race. Our goal is to have 8,200 people join us for the 15th Annual Race for the Cure at the Civic Center on October 3rd," said Tamara Kirkpatrick, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure chairperson.
There are several ways to register for the race by mail, in person or on-line. Please visit komenlubbock.org or feel free to stop by South Plains Mall September 27 through the 29.
