LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - On Healthwise at five, Dr. Steven Berk said there are many things we can do to prevent the swine flu and the most important is frequent hand washing.  Coincidentally, Dr. Berk, who is also an infectious disease specialist, is teaching this week's community medical school, with a lesson all about influenza.

"Everyone has known the swine flu is coming, and it is now showing up in Lubbock, but there's no reason to panic. Right now, most of the flu we're seeing is the swine flu.  It's in Lubbock already.  There's quite a few people sick, but fortunately it's not too severe, not too many hospitalizations," said Steven Berk, M.D., Texas Tech Health Science Center, Dean of the School of Medicine.

As always, the public is invited every Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30p.m. to learn about medicine and issues that concern your health.  If you'd like to enroll in the series, tuition is just $20. Please call (806)743-2008 to reserve your seat.
