Covenant to announce layoffs

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The city's largest private employer is about to announce layoffs.   However, employees have the chance to make some money if they're willing to resign voluntarily. NewsChannel 11 acquired a memo sent to employees that says "we are absolutely committed to protecting as many positions as possible. However, there are a number of positions that will be eliminated in the next 30 days."

It also says "upon resignation, employees will receive the same transitional support including severance outlined in the workforce reduction policy - as well as four additional weeks of pay as detailed in the voluntary separation incentive program."

Employees have a September 17th deadline to take up the offer. Certain departments of Covenant are not eligible.
