LUBBOCK, Texas (September 15, 2009) - Lubbock Christian University head baseball coach Nathan Blackwood has released the 2010 schedule for the Chaparrals baseball program.

The regular season schedule begins Friday, February 5th with a doubleheader against Northwood University beginning with a 1 p.m. first pitch at QT Ballpark in Grand Prairie, Texas.  The opening weekend of LCU baseball also includes a doubleheader at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas on February 6th at LaGrave Field.  Saturday, February 13th marks the home opener at Hays Field, as LCU hosts Lindenwood University for a doubleheader that is part of a four-game weekend series. The series begins a 14-game homestand that includes the Sooner Athletic Conference opener for LCU, with University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) coming to Hays Field for a three-game series beginning on Friday, February 26th.  The non-conference schedule includes seven games against NCAA opponents.  The Chaps have a home-and-home set with NCAA Div. II foe Angelo State University (Feb. 9th in San Angelo, March 9th at LCU) and NCAA Div. III McMurry University (Feb. 23rd at LCU, April 20th in Abilene), and a home game against NCAA Div. II West Texas A&M on Tuesday, April 13th.

The defending NAIA National Champion Chaps conclude the regular season with their annual rivalry series against Wayland Baptist University, which has Wayland at LCU on May 4th and May 7th, and LCU playing at Wayland on May 6th. The SAC Tournament runs from May 10-13th, hosted by Oklahoma City University, and the Opening Round of the NAIA National Tournament is set for May 18-21st. Like last season, the opening round tournament winners advance to Lewiston, Idaho, for the Avista-NAIA World Series (May 28 - June 5th).

The Chaps will strive to duplicate their success from last season, as they claimed their second NAIA Baseball National Title in program history and the first since 1983. LCU completed the season with a 52-8 record and claimed their second consecutive SAC title.
