Lubbock County tax rate nearly doubles since 1991

By James Clark | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - NewsChannel 11 has learned that the Texas Association of Counties keeps track of historic tax rate information. So we took a look.

The tax rate has almost doubled from 1991 to the present. Numbers from the Texas Association of Counties show that in Lubbock the tax rate started rising most dramatically after 2002.

Back in 1991 the Lubbock County tax rate was $0.1763 and in 2002 it had crept up to $0.1911 per $100 of valuation. Then from 2003 it went up dramatically to its current level of $.329458 (not quite doubling). This information only includes the tax rate and does not include higher taxes due to increasing appraisal values.
