LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - We're getting closer to an October 1st deadline for new state-mandated vaccines. That's when students must have all the required immunizations, which include protection against meningitis, tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough and chicken pox.
The original deadline was August 1, but due to a shortage of some booster shots, state officials pushed it back to October 1. Now that there is no shortage, elementary and junior high schools have the right to send your child home after October 1, if he or she does not have all the required vaccinations.
