Lubbock ISD shows off National Merit Semi-finalists

LUBBOCK TX (KCBD) - Wednesday Lubbock ISD proudly showed off the achievements of ten students.   They are National Merit Scholar Semi-finalists.   Those who go on to be finalists not only to carry the prestigious title of National Merit Scholar, but also qualify for generous college scholarships.

One such semi-finalist, John Myers, says, "I feel really honored to be here, and just to be a member of this competition. I'm so excited because it's something I've been working for the last couple of years."

Lubbock ISD says it's the only school district in Lubbock County to have National Merit Semifinalists.   The finalists will be named next spring.

Here is a list of the semi-finalists:  Winifred Conrad, Bayless Drum, Katharine Glasheen, Shaylen Hogue, Johanna Neuber, Julia Shannon and Ketevan Tsereteli from Lubbock High School, and John Myers, Haley Schneider and Jacob Skelton from Monterey High School.
