Walking for Alzheimer's

Posted:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Remember Teena Beatles? She was our weight watchers leader when NewsChannel 11 went through that program a few years ago. Her husband, Billy, is one of 35 million people around the world living with Alzheimer's or dementia.

It's a number that's climbing rapidly. The 2009 world Alzheimer's report out this week estimates that number will swell to 65 million cases in the next 20 years. Teena and others whose lives have been touched by Alzheimer's are  hoping you'll join the Alzheimer's memory walk in Lubbock Friday. The one mile walk starts on the Tech campus at the Frazier Pavilion which is at Boston and 6th Street. Registration is at 8 a.m. and be sure to bring your walking shoes.
